Task One: Researching and Understanding

1. Production Role Research

Marketing Manager Role

The role I have been given is the marketing Manager, the skills that you need is good organisational skills, communication skills and need to have a good concept of design. The role before the event is to design posters, leaflets and getting the event into local newspapers and websites and radio. The more the event is publicized the more audience we can capture. An example of this would be if the event went on TV the audience that would be interested would look up more information like on a website or ringing the Venue. A marketing manager should also be able to work under pressure as usually the poster would have to be out prior to the event.  Once the posters have been created then you would use the same theme throughout, so Leaflets, Tickets, signage and programmes. The signage would be for like Car Parking, Toilets, refreshments and Programmes but it all depends on the type of the event.

The leaflets would normally be A5 size this is so the audience can take the leaflet home which has the information of the event; the leaflet would usually have more information than the poster as the poster has to catch the public’s eye and shouldn’t be load with information. The programme should include performer’s names, crew’s name, and name of acts Example if this would be the type of music or the studies. Also the Programme would also include sponsors and so would usually go in the programme for a price. It would also have ‘Thank You’ and upcoming events. Again the programme would have the same theme as the Original posters. On the night of the event the Marketing team would not be needed. The difference between the Market assistant and the Marketing Manager, Is the Marketing Manager has to liase with the Events Manager so if the events manager does like the initial design you have to change it to what they think is suitable. Also you have to delegate roles to the marketing team. As the Marketing Manager you don’t have to design the poster yourself you can get someone else to create the poster by hiring designers in. As the Marketing Manager you can create a press release and get it put in the Newspapers.

2. Presentation/Application for the Production Job Role

This was the Original PowerPoint that I presented. The bullet points were just rough guide lines that I was going to talk about. The PowerPoint was more of a Prompt for me. I covered information:
Marketing Manager Role
Skills that are needed
Experience
Job Vacancies and how to apply

Overall I got a distinction on this Presentation ,One reason for this was because I gave clear examples. I also kept on the initial point of the PowerPoint and didn't go off task. Information that was not on the PowerPoint that I covered was information like:
Budgeting
How to Manage my team
Professionalism
